Moses Malone, a 76ers legend and the center on their last championship team in 1983, died Sunday at the age of 60.

 

Here are some of his notable career moments:

 

1974: Graduates Petersburg (Va.) High School. Despite his commitment to the University of Maryland, he is drafted by the ABA Utah Stars. Signs a five-year contract worth $1 million.

 

1975: Completes his rookie season in Utah at age 19, collecting an ABA-high 455 offensive rebounds and scoring 1,557 points, an average of 18.8 ppg.

 

1975: Sold to ABA Spirits of St. Louis.

 

1976: Drafted by Portland as part of NBA's dispersal draft of ABA players.

 

1976: Rights traded to NBA Buffalo Braves. Six days later, he was traded to the Houston Rockets.

 

1979: Wins first of three NBA MVP awards, leading NBA with 1,444 rebounds.

 

1982: Wins second MVP award.

 

1982: Leads Houston into NBA Finals, claiming that he could beat the Boston Celtics with four friends from his hometown of Petersburg, Va. The Rockets lose the championship round in six.

 

1982: Signs with 76ers as a free agent. The Sixers compensate Houston with Caldwell Jones and a No. 1 draft choice.

 

1983: Leads Sixers to 65-17 record, wins third MVP award.

 

1983: Before postseason, announces Sixers' ability to win a championship quickly, roundly quoted as predicting that it would be done in three consecutive series sweeps, “Four, four, four.”

 

1983: Leads Sixers to NBA championship with a four-game sweep of L.A. Lakers in finals.

 

1986: Traded by Sixers to Washington Traded by the Philadelphia 76ers with Terry Catledge and a first-round draft choice. The Sixers received Cliff Robinson and Jeff Ruland.

 

1988: Signs with Atlanta Hawks as a free agent.

 

1991: Signs with Milwaukee as a free agent.

 

1993: Signs with Sixers as a free agent, who had hoped to have him act as a tutor and role model for young center Shawn Bradley.

 

1994: Waived by Sixers after averaging 5.3 points in 55 games.

 

1994: Signs with San Antonio Spurs as a free agent.

 

1995: Retires at age 39 after scoring 2,580 major-league points.

 

1996: Named one of the “50 best NBA players of all time.

 

2001: Inducted into Naismith Basketball Hall of Fame.
