THE STAKES ARE RAISED
Carlos Beltran, the newest San Francisco Giant, was booed Thursday at Citizens Bank Park. Typically, former Mets can expect such treatment. This time, though, it was deeper. This time, the booing indicated a displeasure that the Giants, not the Phillies, were the first of the serious N.L. contenders to think big at the trade deadline.
Really ... the Giants acquired Beltran for a pitcher who was 7-5 in A-ball.
Now, the Phillies must counter. It might be a good idea, too, to do so before Domonic Brown has zero (0) trade value left.
